Helping You Be Their Hero

Texas Adoption Attorney Helping to Build Loving and Supportive Families

Every day at Morais Kim Law we work to ensure that children have the opportunity to grow up in a caring and nurturing environment. We believe that all children should have the love and support of a stable family. While adoption is a very sensitive and personal decision, there are times when adoption provides the best chance for a child to have a safe and secure home life.

We guide both birth parents and adoptive families through the adoption process in Texas. Whether you are hoping to adopt a child or are a birth parent trying to decide if adoption is right for you and your child, my aim is to alleviate your fears and help you through a very emotional time in your life. We take the time to explain your legal rights and options. Our goal is to make sure that you are comfortable with your decisions and that you understand what is happening throughout all stages of the adoption process.

The Adoption Process

There are many different reasons for an adoption to take place. In some cases, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services may place a child who is at risk for abuse or neglect with foster parents, grandparents or other close family members, who may want to adopt the child. In other instances, a birth parent may choose to place a child for adoption privately or through an adoption agency. There are also times when a stepparent may wish to become the legal guardian of his or her stepchild through the adoption process.

Every adoption case is unique and involves complicated laws and legal issues. Regardless of whether you are a biological parent, grandparent or another relative, stepparent or prospective adoptive parent, you need to be certain that you understand how adoption works. I have years of experience counseling and navigating clients through Texas adoption processes and procedures. When Morais Kim Law accepts your case, we want to know that we fully understand your situation; then, we will work side by side with you to develop an adoption plan that addresses your concerns and best serves your goals and interests for the adoption.

Contested Adoptions

While my aim is to make the adoption process go as smoothly as possible, there are situations where an adoption may be contested, or challenged.  These cases are unfortunate and can be tough for everyone involved. Biological fathers may contest an adoption because they may not have been notified of the birth of his child. In other situations, a birth parent may challenge the adoption of a child by a foster parent or relative.

Whether you are a biological mother or father opposing an adoption, or an adoptive parent, grandparent, stepparent, or other relative seeking to adopt a child, Morais Kim Law is a family law firm prepared to defend your rights and represent the best interests of the child every step of the way.
